WhyNotWausau? began as an idea to bring something new and fresh to an area with a ton of potential. While the “festival” first took form as a music concert on the side of Rib Mountain at Granite Peak in August of 2009, it has since evolved into an effort to simply showcase what is new and exciting about our area.
New ideas. New perspective. New energy. These are ways to build community.
This will be the 4th year of the WNW? proper event. It will be held on the final weekend of July. Once again the main event will be music on the 400 Block which will take place on the night of Saturday, the 27th.
Last year we had great participation in events added to the weekend including an Eau Claire River cleanup, an interactive art project which included painting doors before the Saturday show, and a Drum N Bass show to kick off the weekend downtown. We are very appreiciative of the effort, interest and support.
This year we are looking for more of you to get involved. There are rumblings of a new cycling race, a design event, and even a musky tournament. Those all sound like good ideas to us.
So if you have an idea of your own or you (or your company) would just like to get involved in WhyNotWausau? 2012 message us on our Facebook page.
As we’ll once again be focusing our energy on the Saturday night music festivities, we would be more than happy to help you promote any new kind of event or activity that fits the WhyNotWausau? mold.
Our big picture vision is that on the last weekend of July every year there will be a bunch of new and fresh things going on in and around the Wausau area.
Hope to see you next summer.
